This course is designed for graduate and advanced undergraduate students majoring in marine and Earth sciences. I will introduce basic concepts in marine biogeochemical modeling, covering topics such as air-sea gas exchange, organic matter production, transport, and remineralization of particulate organic matter in the ocean. Additionally, I will touch on some model assessment skills. Different climate settings, such as the last glacial maximum and future transient simulations, will be explored. I will also showcase model applications, including the evaluation of marine carbon dioxide removal techniques. Students will analyze and visualize model outputs to gain a deep understanding of the modeling tools.
